TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7 - BOSTON, MA - The world famous TPC Sawgrass championship golf course in Florida will welcome four golfers from the Granite Links club in Quincy, MA, who won a Cadillac Invitational Series qualifier at the Spring Valley Country Club in Sharon, MA.
The quartet shot a 12-under-par score of 59 to advance to the national championship of the Cadillac-sponsored competition, which was played as part of a charity event organized by the Bright Spirit Children’s Foundation. The charity, which provides distractive entertainment for seriously ill children in hospitals on a regional and national level, hopes to have raised more than $30,000 from the golf tournament and auctions held this week.
Bright Spirit founder and President Stuart Kaplan said: "The event was a great success and we are extremely grateful to the sponsors, businesses and organizations that donated prizes and of course to the golfers and guests who generously helped raise money for a very worthy cause.
"We will continue to spend every cent raised to help children cope with the anxiety of being in hospital and lift their spirits at a difficult time in their lives."
Ejay Chaudry, a member of the victorious Granite Links foursome, added: "We are excited to have played such a great round of golf and to be heading to Sawgrass to play a course that has been graced by some of golf’s legends."
