BRIGHT SPIRIT PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR ACUTE CARE FACILITY AT HOSPITAL FOR SPECIAL CARE IN NEW BRITAIN, CT
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17 – NEW BRITAIN, CT – The Bright Spirit Children’s Foundation, which provides entertainment technologies such as video games, computers, televisions, and audio for hospitals that work with seriously ill children, has donated to the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT.
The Hospital for Special Care is the nation’s only medically complex rehabilitation and chronic disease hospital for adults and children.
Bright Spirit donated gaming systems like the Nintendo Wii®, Wii Fit® and DS®, Sony PlayStation Portable®, games and more to help seriously-ill children in the 30-bed pediatric unit of the Hospital.
“Many of our pediatric patients are here for months, if not years,” said Sheila Hogan, Vice President of the Hospital for Special Care Foundation. “These electronic games are an ongoing and a wonderful diversion from illness. In addition, these young patients have an opportunity to master the very games their well peers have at home.”
Bright Spirit programs are designed to uplift a child's spirit in the hospital, distract them from their illnesses, and help them to cope with fear, anxiety, and boredom. Bright Spirit works with hospitals to determine the most appropriate programs or services needed for the children.
