MONDAY, JULY 20 – DETROIT, MI – The Bright Spirit Children’s Foundation, which provides entertainment technologies such as video games, computers, televisions, and audio for hospitals that work with seriously ill children, has donated to the Children's Hospital of Michigan.

Bright Spirit has donated an Early Literacy Station™ to the inpatient unit of the hospital, allowing smaller children with serious illness to be entertained in the hospital while contributing to their success in education and for a lifetime love of learning.

Bright Spirit programs are designed to uplift a child's spirit in the hospital, distract them from their illnesses, and help them to cope with fear, anxiety, and boredom.

“We are thrilled to help these children with life threatening illnesses,” said Bright Spirit President and Founder Stuart Kaplan.  When asked how Children’s was selected, Stuart commented, “I work with LSG Insurance Partners in Bloomfield Hills, and I know their organization is passionate about giving back to the community.  Given the current climate and the impact in this area, it was an easy decision for us.”

Lindsay Heering, Manager of Child Life Services at the hospital commented that “Having this station in our younger children’s playroom will be wonderful – it is certain to become one of the most popular things for children to use.  This computer learning station is loaded with fun, educational bilingual games and learning programs that will be a great resource for our patients.”

Founded more than 120 years ago, the Children's Hospital of Michigan is the first and only hospital in the state dedicated exclusively to the treatment of children. A leader internationally in neurology and neurosurgery, cardiology, oncology, and diagnostic services, it is ranked one of America's best hospitals for children.  Children's Hospital has more than 250 beds, approximately 13,000 yearly admissions, and 146,000 outpatient visits annually.
