BRIGHT SPIRIT DONATES IN-ROOM ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS TO SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN© IN BOSTON

Installation of New In-Room Entertainment Systems to Provide Support for Recuperating Children and Their Families

March 11, 2010 – Needham, MA – The Bright Spirit Children’s Foundation, which provides entertainment technologies such as video games, computers, televisions, and audio for hospitals that work with seriously ill children, has donated new in-room entertainment systems at Shriners Hospitals for Children © — Boston . This will provide therapeutic care to patients as they recuperate from their injuries in the hospital’s Reconstructive Unit.

Shriners Hospitals for Children © — Boston project will include two phases with each patient bed space receiving a TV, DVD player and a gaming system. Bright Spirit programs are designed to uplift a child's spirit in the hospital, distract them from their illnesses, and help them to cope with fear, anxiety, and boredom.

Shriners Hospitals for Children© — Boston is a 30-bed pediatric burn hospital, research and teaching center and is one of the three hospitals specializing exclusively in burn care operated by Shriners Hospitals for Children©. The hospital is verified by the American Burn Association. The hospital is staffed and equipped to treat children with acute burns, smoke inhalation and healed burns requiring plastic or reconstructive surgery.
